Professor Matthias Christandl will be visiting Amsterdam at various intervals between October 2024 and early 2025, as part of his appointment as Turing Chair for 2024.
A leading researcher in quantum information theory, Professor Christandl’s visits promise to foster a diverse range of academic activities, discussions, and collaborations, enriching the QuSoft and Amsterdam scientific communities.
The Turing chair for Quantum Software is a rotating honorary chair at the Faculty of Science of the University of Amsterdam, associated to the QuSoft research centre of UvA and CWI. In 2022 and 2023, Gilles Brassard has been appointed as Turing chair.
Visiting Dates
During his stay, Matthias Christandl will be working at QuSoft, engaging with the scientific community in Amsterdam. Below are the key dates and events for his visit:
October 2024
On Monday, October 7, Matthias will kick off his visit with a QuSoft seminar, offering the QuSoft community an opportunity to engage with his latest research. During his stay in October, Matthias will participate in several other activities, such as QuLunch, a casual gathering to encourage collaboration and discussions between Matthias and QuSoft researchers over lunch. He may deliver a guest lecture to students in the new MSc Quantum Computer Science program, providing valuable academic insights. More interactions in events with the QuSoft PhDs and Postdocs and the Quantum Computers for Quantum Chemistry (QC2) group are currently being planned.
December 2024
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 16:00, Matthias will deliver a lecture at the renowned General Mathematics Colloquium. The colloquium is organized by Jeroen Zuiddam, Eni Musta, and Krystal Guo.
Early 2025
In early 2025, Matthias is planning to participate in an EQSI (European Quantum Software Institute) event, contributing his expertise to discussions on the future of quantum computing in Europe.
